Summer Pops

This project was to make a poster for a Rhode Island event called “Summer Pops.” It refers to several free, outdoor orchestral concerts, most notably those by the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chorus of Westerly. These events feature a mix of classical and popular music, often with a specific theme, and are a popular, community-building summer tradition.

Reflection

I enjoyed this project a lot as it was one of the very first design heavy projects I did in college. It was really fun being able to see all the different tools you can use to create something this extravagant. This project also showed me how to be a part of the community with the design and how to incorporate vectors that actually mean something to the subject. One of the many challenges I had with this project, was make the text fit the music graphics on the bottom half of the poster. I wanted to make the words flow just as well as the vectors did, and I believe I did that perfectly with including a very more shapes to add information, like the sponsors.
